Questions Keepers ask.
What happens after I place my order? +
A note from us within the hour, with a private link to send your photographs. Once they arrive in the Press Room, we lay out every page by hand. You see a proof of the entire Volume before anything is printed. After your approval, production begins — fourteen to twenty-one days, then the Volume arrives.
Will my book look like the preview? +
The preview is approximate — it shows where your wordmark, marks, and material sit on the cover so you can decide. The finished book is more refined: foil pressed by hand into the cover, your chosen color rendered in real metallic ink, your chosen font set with the precision the preview can only suggest. The proof we send before printing is what your Volume will actually look like.
How many photographs should I send? +
It depends on the format you chose. Highlights holds up to one hundred. The Story holds a hundred to a hundred and fifty. Archive holds a hundred and fifty to two hundred. You don’t have to fill the count — fewer photographs chosen well sit better than many chosen quickly.
How long until my Volume arrives? +
Fourteen to twenty-one days from the moment you approve the proof. We will write to you at every step of The Making. Rushes are possible — ask us.
What if I’m not happy with the proof? +
One round of revisions is standard. Tell us what to change and we adjust and send you a second proof. If after revisions you still don’t want it, we refund every dollar. Nothing prints until you approve.
Can I make changes after I place my order? +
Yes. Until the proof is approved, every detail remains editable — cover material, marks, format, the photographs themselves, the order they appear in. After approval, the press is set; only then is the design fixed.
What file formats and quality do you accept? +
JPEG, PNG, HEIC, RAW. Send the originals if you have them. Most of the books we make come from camera rolls — phone photographs work. If a photograph is too small or too soft to print well, we tell you before anything prints.
Are my photographs safe? +
Stored on encrypted servers, used only to make your Volume, deleted on request after delivery. We don’t share, sell, or use them to train any model. Ever.
Why does it cost what it costs? +
Hours. Yours: an afternoon. Ours: weeks. Every page laid out by a human in Chicago. Smyth-sewn signature by signature. Foil pressed by hand. We could not make one this well for less.
